Jim is our beekeeper. His beekeeping interest arose from his gardening hobby and a desire to naturally increase his garden's crop yield.
Jim has a total of 38 hives in 5 apiaries. The newest apiary is right here at Sugartown Strawberries. We have 4 hives filled with bees grown all naturally with no chemical treatments. We also have 5 "nucleus" hives to grow the apiary stronger for next year! The bees are of Italian, Russian, Carnolioan and natural feral bee heritage - a great melting pot of genetics! Our bees will be gathering pollen and nectar April through July from the surrounding area to make the best all natural, local honey ever tasted!
Our honey is harvested towards the end of July and available for purchase right here at Sugartown Strawberries shortly afterward.
Ron drives the weekend hayrides in October and lends a hand driving the school tours.
